Join the Pride 30 Day Challenge and Serve as a Workplace Champion for LGBTQ Inclusion!

Last week – in a bipartisan vote - the US House of Representatives made history by passing the Equality Act, a bill that would protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in the workplace among other settings. When it comes to cultivating workplace cultures of belonging, this legislation will help dismantle systemic barriers to economic opportunities that far too many LGBTQ workers in the United States still endure, 50 years after the Stonewall Riots.

While passing the Equality Act would be an enormous victory for the movement for LGBTQ equity & justice, those of us who work for employers with LGBTQ workplace protections understand that laws alone will not change a workplace’s culture. Change agents within the workplace are important stakeholders necessary to shift a workplace’s culture to align with the organization’s stated commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

To better understand current workplace barriers, a snapshot of LGBTQ employees collective experiences reveals:

  • 47% of LGBTQ workers remain closeted at work, and of these people, 73% are more likely to leave their companies in the next three years.

  • One in four LGBTQ workers report experiencing employment discrimination in the last five years.

  • Transgender and nonbinary people experience unemployment at three times the national average.

  • In 2014, more than one in four LGBTQ adults (2.2 million people) struggled to put food on the table for themselves and their families.

For those of us who identify as workplace leaders, visionaries, and change agents, we have an enormous responsibility ahead of us to dismantle these very real and significant cultural barriers to ensure that our LGBTQ colleagues feel a sense of safety, trust and belonging in the workplace. It is for this reason that the 30-Day Pride Challenge was created.

LGBTQ Workplace Inclusion = DEI Champions + Intentional Action + Mentorship Support

The 30-Day Pride Challenge will clarify your LGBTQ DEI commitments, offer one 5 minute action you could take each day during the month of June, and connect you to the mentorship and peer support you need to stay focused on your inclusion goals.

There are only a few more days left to join fellow leaders, visionaries, changes agents, movers and shakers in getting the support you need to create a more inclusive organization and grow the #BelongingMovement.

During the Challenge, you’ll have the opportunity to…

  • Identify existing barriers obstructing your efforts to build an inclusive & equitable organization for LGBTQ stakeholders, and get the peer support you need to dismantle them.

  • Participate in two group coaching calls where you can set the agenda and talk through your successes and challenges.

  • Show up for your fellow belonging ambassadors to share your expertise and invest in the growth of others (this is where the magic of challenge exists).

  • Engage with content directly from the new Belonging at Work book with the author.

This challenge is a great fit for you if you…

  • Are passionate about building an inclusive workplace where all of your stakeholders – including those who are LGBTQ – feel a sense of belonging.

  • Identify as a leader, visionary, change agent, mover or shaker who wants peer support from other professionals who “get it” when it comes to workplace DEI commitments.

  • Possess a willingness to lay it all out to a group: fears, worries, concerns, strategies, ideas, support, feedback, etc.

  • Can carve out 5 minutes/day to commit to one personal action that will help you manifest your vision of belonging at work.

If the 30-Day Pride Challenge sounds like a good fit for you, enroll in the program today! Even better, if you have purchased a copy of Belonging at Work, and have left a review on Amazon, send a screen shot of your review here, and you’ll receive a special 50% off promo code for the challenge!
